If you’ve been coming here long enough, you’ll know that I got married in Ballycotton, in east County Cork. The ceremony was at the “Star of the Sea” church high on the hill overlooking the bay, and we had our reception at the exceptional Bayview Hotel, which also overlooks the bay – as, er, the name would sorta suggest. Mind you, on the day of our wedding you could barely see your hand in front of your face, let alone any bay.
The pictures below were taken at a wedding hosted entirely at the Bayview in June. Recent changes to Irish law mean that you can get married outside of churches and registry offices now, and Una and Des decided to have the whole event from ceremony to dancing at the hotel.
I don’t get to shoot many weddings at the Bayview, so it’s always an extra treat when I do. It brings back many, many happy memories of my own wedding day, which I can honestly say was – with the exception of the day Emily was born – the absolute best day of my life.
And, as always, Una and Des were a great couple. (I only work with nice people, you may have gathered by now).
